|Solids, liquids and gases
||Compare and group materials together, according to whether they are solids, liquids
||Condensation & evaporation. Children discuss and label the process of evaporation following a steam engine demonstration or video. Practical activity is possible.
Materials in the railway e.g. lamps. What materials are used in the railway, and why? Children to note materials during rail visit.

||Construct a simple series electrical circuit, identifying and naming its basic parts,
including cells, wires, bulbs, switches and buzzers
||Make a circuit board and switch to power a light bulb using ‘Junk box’ materials or a train set. Children to construct as if it were a railway with signals, trains can be made from junk materials if needed.
